Great question. How do people feel about continuing the deadpool? I'm thinking of taking off 2021 and seeing how we feel about it next Thanksgiving.

When I was 14, Rush told me: those other people are lying to you, I'm telling you the truth. It took college for me to snap-out-of-it, but I still see that simple trick used everywhere, and am weary/cautious when it's used by people I support. Thanks for the life lesson, I guess.

Can we just rename this the In Memorium thread? The fact that it looks like we’re playing a game based on dead people- when we’re not- is pretty morbid.

Was forced to listen to him for hours most every day as a Non-Political State Employee in my Non-Political State Office Building populated almost exclusively by White Men two-to-three times my age. Those were the days, I tell you what! Nothing like hearing about the feminazis while dudes roll past leering at your legs or Whatever. Or about the Democrats destroying the world by trying to protect the environment, as you're working on projects to either destroy the environment or make up for having done so.

The dead pool was from last year, so it doesn't count. And we're not playing a dead pool this year, since it seems too morbid after a pandemic year.

Michael Collins, astronaut, 90. The guy who had to stay in the orbiter while Neil and Buzz went to go play on the moon.

I did a short bit on him on the podcast last year.

Fascinating guy. While orbiting the moon, he spent a lot of time thinking about what it'd be like if he had to go back to earth alone.

Michael Collins in many ways was the most relatable of the three. Didn't get to go play on the moon, just sat there and waited and hoped for the best, pretty much exactly what most of us do when there is a historic event.

I know. But I only think of it when I'm on my phone, and the mobile format doesn't include thread moving in my admin options. I keep trying.

Let me go try the laptop now that I'm thinking of it at home for once.

I haven't seen him in much, but he was so good in "Midnight Run," which is a great damn movie.

Includes one of my favorite quotes:
Grodin: "Jack, you're a grown man, you have control over your own words."
De NIro: "You're goddamned right I do, so here come two words for you: shut the fuck up!"

John McAfee, found dead in a Spanish prison.

The last decade of his his life is ripe for a movie. He fled Belize after his neighbor was found dead. Moved of a different country every few years after that. Got into cryptocurrencies. Decided to stop paying taxes for several years. Ran for president. Was about to be extradited for tax evasion, money laundering, and fraud.

I don’t think any death should be celebrated, but I don’t mourn him. He was a scumbag, drug addict and alleged rapist. I’m sure he was mentally ill, but he was rich enough to insulate himself from needing to seek treatment.
