It's on Kanopy so and just an hour long, so checked it out finally. It had enough amusing gags to keep me happy. Very good! But... the race factor in this is a bit icky -- starts off so well, the main character is inspired to get married after seeing a just-wedded Black couple kiss. Horray! Cut to 45 minutes later, and cannibals are attacking him. I guess horray for employing Black workers in the 20s, and they get to do some awesome stunts and sight gags, but overall it's icky. Put it in the Mammy category -- advancement but for degrading work.

Watched tonight, a solid outting from the duo. A thought I had was, huh, this is about as funny as a regular I Love Lucy episode, and I think that's both a compliment to I Love Lucy and how why that show was so huge, but also like of course in the 30s, if you want a good laugh, spend 5 cents and watch this. In the 50s, stay in and watch Lucy.
