I've seen both Rocky and Jaws. They are both iconic films of their day. I haven't watched either in a long time, because they've been so prevalent in pop culture that they almost feel like parodies of themselves, but both are great films.

This is another song that, like Love Me Do, has just always been on my list and always will. After almost 4 decades, this song still makes me happy every single time.

This is the first Bones UK song I heard that got me hooked. It is also my favorite of theirs, and yet not the last on this list.

A little too late, but there are too many Charlie Chaplin movies on this list that Tahlvin is posting. He was good, and his estate has been a powerhouse at selling his story. Harold Lloyd was/is better.

I'm a huge fan of the Beastie Boys. Make Some Noise is an amazing song. It's a callback to the incredibly bad "Fight for Your Right" that made them famous in the first place and the shitty frat-bro attitude they were trying to mock. I believe it was their last official release and video before MCA passed away. Spectacular song, and maybe the second best video of all time.

Great movie. Not sure if it holds up at all. Seems like one of those movies where it was romantic to rough a woman up and force yourself on her, but I can't remember if that happened.

Example #183058208437 of the hubris of humanity:
Headline of a NatGeo article, "The Universe is Expanding Faster Than It Should Be."
As if we actually can wrap our heads around something of that magnitude to know what it /should/ be doing. Let's try:
"The Universe is Expanding Faster Than We Expected."
Thank you.

Re: Deathless
Yes and no: guy hits his wife and then she chooses to have sex with him later anyway; same guy rapes her sister and it's clearly presented as an evil act, not romantic.
Last Tango in Paris is the movie where Brando rapes a woman, and apparently he actually did rape her, it wasn't just acting. It is presented in the context where it is supposed to be romantic, kind of? Lots of bad things happen in that movie though.
Re: Deathless
It depends whether you are using it to refer to the chief of a tribe, or whether you use it referring in the same way things like hail to the chief, Master Chief, chief judge, police chief, etc use the word to name a role that could be occupied by anyone.

Written by the band Lustra for the movie Euro Trip, in the movie, the lead singer is played (as you can see in the video) by an uncredited Matt Damon. Scotty doesn't know is an awesome example of 2000's era punk: pounding chords with catchy lyrics. Really fantastic. And I know that while being from the other guy's point of view, the song was inspired by one of the band members was actually the real-life "Scotty" in this story. But even still, it seems more mean and less funny as time goes on, so I've taken it out of my main rotation.
Good song though.

I rarely ever watched Castle, but I saw a few episodes. In one of them that I did see, Nathan Fillian and his buddies have to dress as Elvis impersonators to get past casino security. Totally nonsensical, but it gave us the following scene and hooked me forever on Super Bon Bon.

Re: Deathless
I would actually like to know why because my husband uses this term and if it's something that could or should be perceived as racist he should know that. I assume that the racism comes from application of the word to the chief of a tribe? But do people think of that as the primary sense of the word so that it's always implicated when you use it? I don't think of that word as associated with any particular group of people, or if I had to pick it would be European? I don't know. If I am missing something I really do want to know. There's only two people I call by that word fairly often and both of them have the title, but otherwise I don't use it.Kyle wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 3:32 pmI disagree.
