Another Rock Hall trivia question (sorry)

If the Rock hall inducted three bands from the 1980s, the Rock Hall could expand its diversity and woeful lack of women. In all, it would induct around 16 new women and 33 non-white men. These influential bands (maybe not musically but definitely socially) had critical (Grammys and Pazz & Jop) and commercial (some of the best selling songs of all time, one song played regularly every year) success.

Each of the bands' biggest hits were released within 13 months of each other, from December 1984 to December 1985.

Sure you can guess, here's a big clue: two of them originally released only one song. The other, just one album.

That's the two big ones! The last one is a bit difficult as the charity single wasn't a huge success but critics usually pick it as the best of the charity-era songs, topping the Pazz & Jop critic poll in 1985 and Rolling Stone often including the album among its Best of the 1980s lists.
