Top 40 U.S. Restaurant Chains (by # of locations)

1. Post up with a U.S. based restaurant chain that you think is among the top 40 for number of locations worldwide.

2. After a few people have guessed, I will let you know where they rank and award points (see below). DO NOT GUESS AGAIN UNTIL AFTER I HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED YOUR PREVIOUS GUESS AND AWARDED POINTS. Multiple guesses after your first in a round will not count and will only help other players.

3. All guesses must be off the top of your head. No research of any sort is allowed. Especially don't look at the Wikipedia article for largest restaurant chains by locations.

4. Points are awarded by a chain's ranking on the list:
1-4 -- 10 pts
5-8 -- 9 pts
9-12 -- 8 pts
13-16 -- 7 pts
17-20 -- 6 pts
21-24 -- 5 pts
25-28 -- 4 pts
29-32 -- 3 pts
33-36 -- 2 pts
37-40 -- 1 pt

5. The competition will go for some unknown number of rounds based on participation and enjoyment.


NOTES: Yeah, I know, 40 seems like a lot, but you know these. Out of 40, there were only 3 I didn't recognize immediately, and I even have 18 of the top 20 available here in my dinky backwoods Nebraska town.

Of the 14 international ones I removed that would have made the cut, I only recognized Tim Hortons (Canada), and all the others (the biggest ones even) were things like Sibylla from Sweden, CNHLS in China, and Jollibee from the Philippines.
