Okay, it's totally fair. But given the music and styles that I perform, I listen to music that covers about 275 years with more being added all the time. So, does this include the hypothetical "if you never performed music again," clause?

78-88 basically just for Talking Heads catalogue, I miss out on the first version of Psycho Killer but I get the live version from Stop Making Sense so it's all good. I also get some early hip-hop and indie classics. Easy

Tough question. For jazz I’d say 1955-1964, plus or minus a year direction: the best Coltrane, Davis, MJQ, etc.

For rock, probably 1982-1991. This one is tough; I can’t leave out 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 from ‘82, but then I miss In On The Kill Taker (‘92). But this covers Minor Threat’s best, some great ska, Minutemen. . .
