[GB]9/28 Lunchtime Playtest

Postby Eliahad » Fri Sep 28, 2018 3:18 pm

Players:

Stan - Athena 3
Mike - Poseidon 0
Flame - Hermes 4
Eli - Hera 3

Rounds Played 9 (in about an hour and a half)
There were connectivity issues.

There was, like, zero defense in this game. Mainly because the cards did not fall that way this time around.

Poseidon starting late means he doesn't get a lot of setup time. I don't think we can really judge that deck's performance in this game.

Hermes has a couple of broken cards, but the amount of mobility he had was quite impressive. Check his sprint blessings.

I LIKE Athena's deck now. I think she's close enough to where she needs to be that she's a good baseline.

Hera is feeling really good now, too. Her curse cards alter the course of the game, but do it in interesting ways. They are limiting, but as obstacles more than outright limitations.

I absolutely need to go through the card file and reorganize the current iteration so all of the same card types are next to each other. See if I can get a better sense of distribution. That was my fault for letting it lag as I started drafting the new card files.

Mike Suggestion: Move the goal areas back one ring. This would limit scoring. Flame thinks that this would inhibit ball movement somewhat. I'm not convinced of that. I'm also not convinced, yet, that we have to move the goals. That said, I think it would be worth a test. It would be useful if we could get a couple of back to back games, but time constraints limit that a good deal.

I think it was a successful day.

Other discussion point:

"Replacing terrain with the same kind of terrain."

When this limitation was created, it was to keep people from spamming knockdown on the same hex over and over again. It is still possible to do that, but slightly more difficult. Originally, this was a Poseidon issue. I would be okay, in simplification, to take this wording back out. New terrain tokens just remove old terrain tokens.

It came into play today, but was a moot point. Has it come into play on past games and I am just forgetting?

More than anything, I just think the outer ring is really wasted space. After you move off of it in your first turn, how often do people actually return to that ring? Once every four or five games? It's just not a very strategic place to be.

We could also think about eliminating it.

A thought: blessing that makes undefendable hero actions defensible at cost of 2 or 3 AP.

Also. Caution against making adjustments because of weirdness in the game.

Knowing that Mike did not get a huge opportunity today, we're there things that happened in today's game that you particularly engaging or enjoyable?

(I am not trying to diminish the things that need to be fixed, rather find the fun and focus that.)
