This is a new picture of Neptune:
What's remarkable out it is that this wasn't taken from a Voyager fly-by or even the Hubble. This was taken from the Very Large Telescope facility on Earth. In other words: a big fucking telescope took this super clear picture of a planet 2.9 billion miles away.
Very cool.

Re: Neptune Selfie
I have a weird question about Neptune. It says that the atmosphere is 80% hydrogen and 19% helium and 1% other stuff. So why doesn't it catch fire? Is that a dumb question? I'm sure it is, but I'm curious anyways.
Re: Neptune Selfie
Never mind- got the answer. There's no oxygen- which is necessary to the combustion. Duh. It was a dumb question.
