Discussion Thread for Unkillable Thread

Okay, let's have a social experiment.

So if I had to pick someone to win the Unkillable Thread that wasn't me, I'd pick Tahlvin. He's been the model of consistency in this game and really deserves it.

I'm not proposing that we abandon the thread and just let Tahlvin win- because I know we won't do that. But what about someone different. Like, what if we all agreed to something like: You won't post until 13 hours have elapsed since the last post.

Now there's no way to enforce it. But could we get everyone to agree to this rule and see how long we could keep that going. Like a game within the game. A gameception, if you will.

I mean I won't toot my own horn to much, they say you go blind if you do that! But I feel like I contribute the most CONTENT in the thread, not relying on "good morning" chatter in order to get my post count up!

After careful deliberation (aka rewriting this post multiple times, and agreeing at first), I'm coming out as a "no" to this idea.

1. This idea punishes Tahvin, who has a wise stategy. He should not have to feel like he should change his habit, or feel bad, if someone posts at midnight and he posts four hours later.

2. Sometimes the thread is more than just a killable thread game.



I'm fine with this being a future rule, or a game on a different thread. What about a 23-hour min, 24-max, game. You can only post in that time frame. Or... a one-hour killable thread?

Yes, Tahlvin has an amazing and consistent strategy, and therefore the most logical path to beating him is trying to undermine him. I want to win, so I'm all about trying to undermine superior players (if there were actually anyone better at this game than me).

And clearly everything in this thread is binding, and all we need is agreement of a plurality of participants, so I say we do whatever we need to do to regulate Tahlvin's uber-consistency right the hell out of the game.

Furthermore, if I wanted to be a dick about it, I could try to create a script that posts every 24.0000001 hours, only after checking that someone else has posted. Oh yeah. It's evidently possible with just right amount of scripting.

I've been surprised that Talhvin is not a bot. Also now writing a novel about a post-human Internet populated by a mix of bots and AI, trying to sell things to each other and win killable threads.
