1622: Massacre in Virginia by the Powhatan Confederacy
FYI my daughter is studying early American History at the moment and I'm not sure they are learning any of this stuff. She did not know about the first date when African slaves were brought to the US, or much about that slave trade. They appear to teach little of Native American History. The Jamestown settlers had initially been trading productively with the native tribes, or so I'm told, but this was followed by violence and seizures of property and land. The 1622 massacre followed several years of skirmishes and a siege of the fort.
It kind of blows my mind that this was 400 years ago.
