Let's Watch Heist Movies!
Let's Watch Heist Movies!
I want to start up a movie watching club just for heist movies. I'm talking with buckett- his suggestions:
The Town
Inside Man
Ronin
Also- bonus points for heist movies gone wrong- A Simple Plan, stuff like that.
I suppose they have to be streaming on Netflix. But movies like this.
We'll watch one every two weeks, and if you don't get a chance to watch it- no worries.
Anyone interested?

Re: Let's Watch Heist Movies!
I've been meaning to rewatch Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. Not sure of its streaming availability though.
Re: Let's Watch Heist Movies!
I don't care if anyone else is in. I'm in! I'm calling it the Heist Movie Club-- aka HMC.
We'll start with Jackie Brown and we'll discuss it in two weeks- Monday August 21. It's on Netflix. You have to weeks to watch it.
If you want to discuss it with the HMC, I ask that you have watched it recently-- in the past six months. If you have not watched it recently, then rewatch it now.

Check out The Art of the Steal , Kurt Russell leads a pretty good cast in what I can only describe as Canadian Oceans 11.

Re: Let's Watch Heist Movies!
The Score is a pretty good starting point. It's not quite into the older/classic style of heist flick, but also not exactly influenced by the post-Oceans style change. Mix of younger newcomers and older workhorses of the genre, and a focus on the classic heist style of low-no violence.
I'd argue Ronin isn't a heist flick, but there's definitely leeway there.
Edit: Whoops, missed that one had already been picked.

I'm halfway through Jackie Brown now. Looking forward to discussion.
To add to the list of potential movies to watch down the road, Yancey suggested his favorite heist movie of all time: . I'm not familiar with it, but it's a WW2 heist action-comedy from 1970. The first billed cast includes: Clint Eastwood, Telly Savalas, Don Rickles, Carroll O'Connor, Donald Sutherland, and Gavin MacLeod. Further down the list is Harry Dean Stanton (of Last Man Stanton fame). Color me interested.
