I played with the BGG Top 100 a little bit, and discovered that there are exactly 20 games in their Top 100 that are under $30 on Amazon. The ratings are the average ratings from users at BoardGameGeek. All games listed here have at least 3,500 ratings. The prices are (I believe) the best available prices on Amazon right now. So here they are:

Re: BoardGameGeek: Top 20 games under $30
I've heard good things about Puerto Rico and 7 Wonders.
I own Ticket to Ride: USA, so I assume Europe is as good.
Pandemic, I love.
Noah has played Power Grid and raves about it.
The rest are all largely unfamiliar.

Re: BoardGameGeek: Top 20 games under $30
I own the following:
Codenames- A really fun simple game that almost all ages can play. It's a "secret" communication team game where you try to get your partner to identify certain words that are set out on a grid on the table.
Pandemic- Come on. It's pandemic.
Star Realms- STAR REALMS! Y'all! Y'all! You need to play Star Realms! I love it sooooo much!
I'd buy one of these to try out- but I still haven't played Bears vs. Babies, and Lazer Ryderz is coming this week.
