I can't double down on the Dahl. I need someone real. Someone that the people can relate to. Someone that's not afraid to admit that she doesn't always wash her hands after she uses the bathroom. But someone who's not just relateable, but aggressively likeable.

Just being pedantic, but Gamgee is actually Samwise, but that should not distract from Sal's point, because he's 100% correct.

Samwise Gamgee or Samwell Tarly would both be superlative running mates for Veruca. Personally, as fond as I am of Samwise, I think Salt/Tarly is the way to go here. Both have the wisdom of a proper Sidekick-Sam, but Tarly is way brainier.
