Ranking all the Supes since X-Men

So I was talking with Pdyx, and I've decided that we need to find a way to definitively rank all the superhero movies since the new "renaissance" that began with X-Men in 2000. I've chosen to start with that because, while there was success with Burton's Batman and the first two Superman movies, X-Men is the one that opened the door to the modern phenomenon.

I also am going to arbitrarily decide what is a "superhero" movie in this context and what isn't. It has to be movies that had a theatrical release- no DTV. I think I'm leaning towards established comic-book heroes that were marginally popular. Thus, as much as it breaks my heart to say this: Unbreakable and Super are out.

I'm also cutting it off with the end it off as of today, so Logan is the last movie on the list.

We can work out the process of how to make these decisions in this thread, but: (1) it has to be a ranking; and (2) it has to be unanimous. I think the second one might prove problematic. I'm debating randomizing the order and then doing them tournament style, with majority vote winning.

Interestingly- if we include all the entries and the questionable entries- then we have 63 movies (if I counted right)- which means if we find one more, then we can have a 64 movie bracket tournament.

Okay, I've talked it over with Zombie. I've confirmed that there are 63 movies total listed above. If we add in the original Blade, that would make 64 movies.

With 64 movies, we can do a single elimination bracket. We think that we should seed the movies based on rotten tomatoes or metacritic score. Or rotten tomatoes and, if there's a tie, broken by metacritic. That way we don't have Dark Knight going up against Spider-Man-2 in the first round.

I'm also thinking of running them rapidly at first-- i.e., three days for everyone to vote in the North Bracket; then the South and then the other two. We go like that until we get down to the Sweet 16, then we slow it down. I'm not sure how much. But enough to actually give motivated voters a chance to revisit movies prior to voting.
