How are we feeling about growing the little piggies with human cells so as to harvest human organs, eventually? They were also discussing plans to incorporate regenerative abilities from other animals into humans. That would be nice I suppose. Or perhaps we can retrieve old features we used to have and traded in along the way, but that remain, unexpressed, in the genome. On any other day I would say, whoa, let's maybe study this thing a few times before we go crazy with it? But today I say, well, we're doomed anyway, and maybe rapid advances in this area will ensure a few humanoid species survive us.

I have no problem with growing organs for human use in pigs. Let's get on with it!

There's concerns any time we begin altering species. We need to be careful, and smarter minds that mine need to be exploring and preparing for the repercussions of our actions, but it's going to happen.

As for altering people... also inevitable, but let's get better at tinkering with other stuff before we start mucking about in our own genes.

As someone who carries around two pens full of insulin from pigs every day...I'm for it.
