What is the best type of bulb? Are LED lights really more efficient?

We've been using LED for a couple years. More natural light than compact fluorescents, less waste, and more efficient.

Really do not like compact fluorescents. Empirical experiment proved to me they end up costing more than they're worth, grrrr, and they look like crap, warm up too slowly, and spray toxic dust everywhere when they break.
So that led me to LEDs, which so far so good, but am trying to decide whether to go whole hog and buy an LED chandelier.

I even found a weird, tube-shaped LED light for under a desk hutch. It works great. Highly recommend.

It may not be the most efficient, but I don't think you can get better than a good hardwood flame.
Of course, ventilation and scorching are negatives, but, well, you cannot have everything.

Those are great, for many purposes! Joss & Main is having an extra 20% off sale btw. AllModern has better LED lighting but Joss almost never has an actual coupon code. I can't figure out their business model at all but it has benefited me and I recommend it. You have to dig through the item specs for an unusual phrase that helps you trace its origin and then you can price compare.

Apparently they monitor my phone now, because they just emailed me an AllModern coupon too.
