Today is Nathan Bedford Forrest Day in Tennessee. You know, the guy who slaughtered all the black soldiers at Fort Pillow because they were black, and helped start the KKK.

The law that mandates this also sets aside other commemorative days, all but two of which (Lincoln, Veterans’ Day) honor either slaveholders or people who committed treason to defend slavery (Andrew Jackson, Robert E Lee, and Jefferson Davis).

Because you live in a country that was founded by slave owners who revolted to preserve theor ownership of slaves, and who were themselves educated in a mythology espousing the supremacy of the white race. All yoir life you have been lied to about the origins of your country, aboit why it exists and how it came to be. Every 4th we celebrate a myth of freedom and liberty in a nation state that is the largest incarcerator in the world.
