The narrator can be a little annoying, and I only caught the last half hour live on Press TV, so excuse me if anything insane happens before then, but this is a good film on how the US and EU murdered Yugoslavia.

Haven't finished watching it yet, but you should always take things said in the Balkans with a grain of salt. There was another doc 20 years ago called Death of a Nation. Milosevic's big rally where he said "you will not be beaten again!" was discovered to be a staged riot. Serb sympathizers started throwing rocks from behind the peaceful protesters to incite the police crack down.

These are folks who fought a civil war over which alphabet to use.
We should have seen this coming. I agree that it was partly our fault.

Not sure how to phrase a search for it, but one of my favorite anecdotes back in the day was that after the Free Tibet concert a group of musicians did a similar event for Bosnia. Some of them walked out of it saying "f--- these people. everywhere we've been there's someone dragging you to a burned out ruin saying 'look what they did to us'". One thing the documentary got right from what I've seen so far is that there were no saints in the conflict.
There's a movie called Pretty Village Pretty Flame that expresses pretty well the sense of neighbors suddenly turning against each other from the war. It even has a clueless American journalist.

Yugoslavia was never going to outlast Tito. Tito was that rare sort of genius that you get, who can wield a disparate collection of ethnicities into one. But he's the sort of guy you only get one of, and his successor will always be incapable of holding it together.
