Jon Bois is a mad genius and one of the funniest writers in sports, to the extent he can be considered a sportswriter. Here's some of his greatest hits:
First, I'd recommend the Tim Tebow CFL Chronicles, his first story (that I know of) of cross-country football games:
He's probably best known for his Breaking Madden series, where he tweaks Madden's settings to extremes, leading to sometimes hilarious () and sometimes genuinely frightening () results.
He also does a video series on stories that he thinks are pretty good, called Pretty Good. Here's the first episode; it's pretty good, as are the rest of the episodes:

TOTALLY forgot about the Bill Belichick Offseason Simulator, the absolute best and most realistic video game ever made about Bill Belichick's offseasons:

That was less confusing.

I feel like I can't possibly be reading the same thing you guys are. It is idiotic at best, and deserving of punishment at worst.

Yeah. It pops up different stories based on the reader's gender. Lisa said the one she read was stupid too.

It's so good. While knowledge of football (and specifically, Koy Detmer) helps, it's not necessary. Just patiently read the existential angst explored in the many-layered ways and enjoy. Sublime.

OLD BOJANGLES
NEW BOJANGLES
This is, quite probably, the greatest original work of fiction I've read in the past six months.

That was amazing! (It's done now, BTW.)
What a sweet and bizarre story.
