The View...point

I keep seeing Conservatives on my feed sharing dumb things the women of the View say or do. Kathy Griffin's Trump photo is the latest, but it's happened to all of them except that one conservative. Am I missing something about the cultural relevance of the View for liberals? I'm not really a tribe joiner, but I have liberal friends and I can't remember the last time I heard anyone quote these women as any kind of source for facts or even cogently worded opinions. The same with Lena Dunham. I wouldn't know anything these people are saying if it wasn't for conservatives gleefully poking at their bad moments.
It reminds me a lot of that scene in Enemy Mine (can't find a video or gif of it, for I am the dumb) where they get in a heated argument and Louis Gosset Jr tells Dennis Quaid "your Mickey Mouse is a big dumb dope! because he is under the impression that Mickey Mouse is some kind of human prophet.
Am I missing something, or is The View's ratings being driven mostly by conservative hate-watchers looking for them to say something stupid?

They have a few million people watching, mostly women, average age 60. It's an important advertising target and more of them vote at that age, so their audience might receive disproportionate attention. More people are watching earlier morning shows. But because they have high profile guests, court controversies and specifically aim to stir up emotional responses, they generate a big social media presence for the size of audience. Otherwise have no clue why it appeals. I strongly dislike watching/hearing from most of the people who have been hosts.

That I or anyone takes marching orders from Griffin is laughable. I do wonder what "team sports" outrage I get sucked into.
I guess conservatives could say the same about Trump, when he says or does something stupid. Difference I guess being Griffin is powerless, humbled, and apologetic.

It's gross to me that there's any discussion of Kathy Griffin. She did a gross offensive stunt so people would remember she exists. The more we talk about it, the more she's rewarded.

Who knew she was even on the view? I recently figured out Raven Symone was there, and apparently that's far from news.

What these people think isn't news. The 24hr cycle has turned infotainment into basically porn niches, where people can go to watch whatever gets them off. They either get their jollies from watching people with superficial knowledge and tons of minutes to fill make asses of themselves, or from psychos with expensive haircuts threaten or mock whatever group "we" don't like this week.
Obama is a threat (which we can't let go) because he's useless but simultaneously intensely effective. I live in an anti gun state, and didn't come close to losing my guns. But you can bet I got mail from LaPierre about it weekly. He's not news either, but he issues a raft of press releases.
This is a panoply of problems: Fake celebrity industry (who are these people anyway?) Need to gin up demand to sell ad time, and the need to distract folks from the real obstacles in their lives (otherwise we might address them)
