Does your hair go up or down or some other direction?

I was thinking of this the other day because I didn't do my hair after getting out of the shower. Just let it dry naturally in its way. It looked like a giant hair octopus had laid itself across my head, and the largest tentacle on the right side was curving gently outward like a flying buttress. But a very large and very flying one. So essentially the hair goes sideways when left to its own devices.
