Re: Quantum Entanglement

Right- but with just a bit, can't you communicate via some kind of morse code? Yea, which would be amazing. But not the full color HD video people would like. If we could get a good solar sail or nuclear rocket or something that could get a ship fast enough to get to a near star in only 10-20 years...

Re: Lesser Thoughts

Good point. For now on, when people ask me how it's going, I'll respond with, "I'm still hydrating."

Re: [Deep Thoughts] Jesus Took the Wheel

Electricity. The level of technological change required to build this utterly massive network of absolutely lethal power gets boiled down to us flicking a light switch in our home. While I may not exactly care for what Con-Edison did to the market, the sheer amount of human ingenuity displayed by t...

Re: Quantum Entanglement

Reminds me of old SF, like Ursula Leguin, where travel was Einsteinian but communication was instant. If you could permanently magnetically capture these particles on an organized manner, you'd have a communicator that could talk only to its twin. It would be hard to have much bandwith as each parti...

Re: Lesser Thoughts

What's the proper level of obsession? At one end, you have no interest in anything and vegetate until dead from dehydration. At the other end, you obsess over one thing to exclusion of all else until you die of dehydration. Is there a happy medium in there is it all self-inflicted semi-happiness sha...

Has anyone here played around with multiclassing yet? I haven't even looked at it as there's been so much other stuff.

Re: Parenting Question

(One gives a toddler a choice: "Would you like to wear the blue shirt or the green shirt?"which is an illusion of choice because you've already assumed the shirt part.... Teenagers and mothers in law need to be gently reminded that they are not, in fact, the masters of their fates, that l...

Re: Starfinder

You're right, it's not useless. Just not exciting. I'm also glad to see feat trees largely gone. In PF/3e, it feels like you have to plan out all your feats at level one or you might mess up and not be able to get where you're going or not have the right ability score. Setting aside fantasy vs SF an...

Re: Starfinder

Due to the changes in Starfinder (PC's tend to have lower BAB but hit for more damage, NPC's tend to have higher BAB but hit for less damage), Weapon Focus becomes far superior in Starfinder than it was in PF. First, it doesn't affect a single weapon, but the full weapon groups. Second, with the ap...

Re: Starfinder

When I was putting together my character for Caz's game, I felt the feats available at first level were pretty limited, and were heavily skewed towards combat. Maybe that'll change with future supplements. That's one of the reasons I switched from Human. I didn't feel like benefited much from an ex...

Re: Starfinder

Thanks, for some reason, I forgot to look for official free stuff. Something else useful is character sheets for all of the iconics at levels 1, 4, and 8 so you can see typical gear and abilities. http://paizo.com/products/btpy9ukw?Community-Use-Package-Starfinder-Society-Pregenerated-Characters

Re: Starfinder

80 races! That will make will make it feel mixed up and crazy! In a good way. Hopefully, there's a ship book coming, too. One other things - with the default point system for ability scores and a level 1 max of 18, any race can be any class without a mechanical hindrance. For example, I can take a V...

Due to advances in marketing and social programming, absolute crap can be insanely popular. So, we all go through life with crap constantly being thrown at us.

Re: Starfinder

unorganized observations: Magic progression is slower, with casters getting a new spell level every 3 levels instead of every 2. With no play experience I can't be certain, but I think this will help keep casters from overshadowing noncasters. There's also no equivalent to the wizard and their abili...

Re: [STARFINDER] Shipping off for Bretheda

Hero Lab Starfinder should be entering open beta soon. They're using it as their first case for their online system, which I'm meh about so far. But having the starship creator in Hero Lab would be fun.
