Re: Rainy Day Fund
It'd be nice if there was an accessible list of endowment size for nonprofits. Why should I bother donating to a place with a $30 billion endowment?

Re: What do you want to know about classical music, but we're afraid to ask?
I'm in the mood for dark and brooding. What do you suggest? Rosamund String Quartet by Schubert or Death and The Maiden (Also a string quartet, also by Schubert) Those really hit the spot. I had heard Death and the Maiden but it had fallen off my listening list. Rosamund was new to me. Some pieces ...

Did you think this would be easy to make?:
Meanwhile, Utah led the nation in panic buying.

Re: Democrats
What I really hope he starts doing is communicating with all his supporters who are pissed as hell that Biden is winning and can't believe it's not "rigged". If you get all those people under 40 to vote, you would have a different outcome, but it is what it is right now. Yea, I'm hoping h...
Re: Democrats
After a one on one debate, Biden won 3 states handily, 2 of which have fairly big populations/delegates. It's conceivable for Bernie to win but the 300 delegate deficit makes it really unlikely, barring a catastrophic event. With roughly half the delegates already allocated, Biden only has to do alm...

Re: Trump
Putin has picked a bad time to put forth the idea of extending his reign. The Russian economy is heavily dependent on oil and is in more danger of tanking than most other countries.

Re: All things COVID-19
Our university banned all official air travel for the next month (enforced by not reimbursing it). Other places are doing similar things. Spring academic conferences should either cancel or be online only as they are going to be very sparsely attended. Work from home, avoid direct contact with peopl...
Re: Democrats
Like I say, Biden was at best my third choice, and I'm still absolutely voting for him and making sure my kids turn out as well. I know some progressives, and I have yet to meet one who is refusing to vote because Bernie's not the nominee Ditto. The general election will get ugly with tons dirty tr...

Re: What do you want to know about classical music, but we're afraid to ask?
I get the feeling that most people don't get the variety that falls under classical music. Many think sedate chamber music when they hear the term. How about a brief rundown (a few words each) of some of the most common periods and/or schools of music or of favorite composers. Or, how about a matchi...
Re: Democrats
Hopefully, both sides are talking seriously behind the scenes. Like bowing out in return form positions or policy planks. If Sanders takes it all the way and loses, I'm afraid his supporters will turn off from politics.
It looks like once again, I was not able to vote meaningfully in a primary.

Re: Democrats
I had a rather sobering thought when I heard the Super Tuesday results... That thought was: The person Joe Biden reminds me the most of is probably Bob Dole... the next thought to come to mind was that perhaps Walter Mondale was an even better fit, but Dole came to mind first... The point is: a pro...
Re: Democrats
There's a decent chance that it will come down to the convention. If it does, I really hope Bernie followers don't get all butt hurt when they lose out.
Re: Democrats
Some of my friends quite broken up about Warren's departure and taking it fairly personally, but I think it's simply that people are THAT scared of Trump beating Bernie, so they decided to settle on what seemed like the safer bet. I am raising up a good woman president for y'all if we don't manage ...

Re: Johns Hopkins COVID19 tracking map
Nice. It's as good as the data gets but I think countries with less organized public health will have serious under-counts as they are less like to search out suspicious cases and do definitive tests or determine cause of death. Countries that try to control all info, like NK, could also have seriou...
Re: Democrats
Is Biden going to to a Clinton II? It looks like most of his wins/support are in southern states that he will then lose in general election.
