Czechoslovakia got the two that you'd expect.
The final two correct answers, were:
Yugoslavia, which split into Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Slovenia, and Serbia (Montenegro later split from Serbia)
aaaaaaand
The Federal Republic of Central America, which was a brief union of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatamala, Honduras, and Nicaragua (hey, what's the deal, Panama?). One thing I missed was that the union was revived twice, once in the late 1890s without Costa Rica and Guatamala, and again from 1921 to 1922 without Nicaragua. All unions seemed to fail when those opposing the union immediately take to arms. But there is a lasting nostalgia for the brief union (all the countries involved have flags that are based on the FRCA flag, they also united militarily to take on the invasion of filibuster ).
Congrats on eeking out a 1pt victory, Mike! Thanks everyone for playing Statistics: Posted by poorpete — Mon Oct 12, 2020 8:49 am
