I am just not listening to the radio during this entire period of life, apparently. Which checks out because this was about the age I got interested in opera and started listening to nothing but opera for about 2 years. Well, that and Fishbone and Outkast and stuff. You guys we are almost to Missy and Outkast and stuff.

The rewrite a hit as a requiem is #1 and #3. I wasn't a fan of either of the two in my youth but now understand my enjoyment wasn't the point, it was their raw expression.

People have suggested a Verzuz competition between En Vogue and Destiny's Child, and with each forgotten classic reappreciated, I think that'd be awesome and competitive.

actually if the blurs are right here the "Ladies Night" could be TLC vs. En Vogue. Maybe...

Don't think I've heard this but it's good. But the video falls into an awful trope in the bridge: having a model lip sync the lyrics of a non-rail-thin female R&B singer. Boooooooo

I could not process this at first - the only words granted admission were Bridge Having Model Rail and so my brain took the liberty of providing a detailed mental image of a model railroad set complete with multiple bridges. My brain was in fact on the right track, now that I know what was really meant:

"bridge: having a model lip sync the lyrics of a non-rail"

That's my fault. I should have picked a non-difficult more-succinct way of explaining my bridge explanation thoughtfully instead of injecting needless extraness to sound pseudo-thoughtful. Toot Toot!

Okay- first of all: brilliant pop song. I don't care what anyone says. That's great pop.

But watch that video. It's actually a pretty brilliant single shot that must have taken them 50 tries before they finally nailed it. It's pretty impressive.

Also: does Posh Spice do anything? She didn't sing and her dancing was... well, it was something at least.

I agree that it's a great pop song. It's fun.

I'm just surprised it didn't rank higher.

Bonnie Tyler's performance on that song was so wrought with the right emotion and inflection. I can't imagine a better take on it.

Is there a more quintessential 90s pop song? Love it.

I think of this as a Timbaland kind of sound, but it's Jermaine Dupri producing. Good job Jermaine!

Semi-charmed life is one of those white-people bop along anthems that is pure perfect pop. Like Mr. Brightsides, no matter where you are, if there's a crowd of people and you start playing this, within 20 seconds everyone will be singing along.
