Unki11able

8. Ghost (Justin Bieber)
Solid one from the Biebs. I'll go deeper on my conflicted opinions on him later maybe. I think I default to not wanting to like Beiber but he wins me over here. 8/10
Update: oh no, are we passing the golden hour?
Billboard Hot 100 Year End Chart 2022
7. Big Energy (Latto)
The third best song that features Genius of Love, after Fantasy and Genius of Love. Still that's not damning with faint praise, it's a solid bop! Also I'm pretty sure my kids know this song, and I dunno how I feel about that. 8/10

I'm trying. It won't let me!
Re: Unki11able
Big ---- energy! I love that song, it's just cute.
Re: Unki11able
Sending healing vibes Mike's way now, too.
Re: Unki11able
Wow. Sucks that yours sick. I guess Gerald gave you something?

6. First Class (Jack Harlow)
There's hooks, they're good, and I like pretty much any song that spells out things. Give me that Sesame Street cheerleader chant! The soundscape is good. Otherwise the guy rubs me the wrong way, I guess. A pretty quick skip from me. 6/10

Harlow's flow is the same in every song.

It alright. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 7/10

Am I the only one that thinks that most Ed Sheeran songs would sound better if performed by someone else?

G'day, ladies and gents!
Re: Unki11able
I feel like, over the years, Tahlvin has developed a consistent, crowd-pleasing vocal presence. Some argue that he's not experimenting or challenging his boundaries. But I disagree. When you've invented your own, unique voice- refine it, don't change it. Good job, Tahlvin. It's a shame you haven't broken one of these top 100 lists yet. But I feel like 2023 is your year.

Same, but seems Tahlvin is more than up for the task! Tahlv Sheerin

4. Easy On Me (Adele)
From last year. Still great. When I really let it in it really moves me. I like when she mixes things out but it's never been more clear: she's the undefeated queen of the piano ballad. 10/10
Re: Unki11able
The thing about Adele is that I'm not even into her style of music. But I LOVE her music. She's got my favorite pure voice of modern performers.

3. Stay (The Kid LAROI & Justin Bieber)
Heard last year, but dammit, it's good.
I'd rather not like Bieber, but he does a few things I like. One, dammit, he sounds good. Two, he often tries new things, new sounds. Three, he's a great addition, I prefer him as a feature, he's a great ingredient. I think this is how I prefer Sheeran too. Four, as a feature, he often lifts up lesser-known artists. If he didn't cosign Despacito, would we have the Latinx breakthrough with Bad Bunny this year? Five, like this song, often his songs are a little over 2 minutes. He's bringing back the 2 minute pop song! So, thanks Bieber? Thanks, Bieber. Ok I can do this. Deep breath.
Thanks, Bieber! 9/10

Whenever I read the title of this thread, I say it to the tune of Subliminal, by TMBG.
Re: Unki11able
Ha! True story- every time I read it I sing the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt theme song in my head: "Unkillable! They alive, dammit! It's a miracle!"
Re: Unki11able
My vocal range tends toward the deeper bass end, and I think there's limited pop appeal for that range. And I'm okay with that. I prefer having a niche audience that really appreciates my vocal stylings.Kyle wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 11:22 am I feel like, over the years, Tahlvin has developed a consistent, crowd-pleasing vocal presence. Re: Unki11able
You are the Michael Bublé of our generation. Wait... Michael Bublé isn't the Michael Bublé of our generation is he? Well whatever, you're great, Tahlvin. Just keep riding that wave of success.

2. As It Was (Harry Styles)
The Hot Chip sound owns the top two songs. It's the best thing Harry's done, so poppy yet so confessional yet so romantic yet so sad, I'm completely fine it's one of the biggest hits of all time. Deserving. I didn't want to like him, it'd be easier to hate him, but this is spit on Chris Evans good.
Have people talked about how "go home get ahead" often sounds like "go home get head." On purpose? Is this the scandal that will take him down? Nah, would make him even more popular. 10/10

Re: Unki11able
Public Image Ltd is submitting this song to the Eurovision song contest as a nominee for Ireland. It's a pleasant, somewhat vague song that's easy to listen to. Until you realize that John Lydon (a/k/a Johnny Rotten) wrote it as a love letter to his wife, who is suffering from Alzheimer's. Then it becomes quite haunting.
Re: Unki11able
I thought he spit on Chris Pine?
Re: Unki11able
whoops oh yeah, i mean, he totally should spit on all the Chrises

1. Heat Waves (Glass Animals)
"In the middle of Juuuuune." Second Hot Chip hit, I'm a long-term fan of bland British bands creating these weird mixes of indie rock and hip hop. I dug it in the 2000s so I guess I should be glad all the kids like it in the 2020s. I'm more likely skipping it these days though. Overplayed since Juuuuune. 9/10

Re: Unki11able
I've decided I need more covers of songs in the style of the Mamas and the Papas:
Re: Unki11able
0. Despacha (Rosalia)
Re: Unki11able
Is that like Hammer time?
Re: Unki11able
Yes. Except in this case, the hammer is my penis.
Any time the solution is "banjo rifle", I'm in 100%.
Re: Unki11able
I've become a fan of covers of Last Resort. I need to put together an entire album of Last Resort covers ala the Tom's Diner album from the late 80s (maybe 90?).
Re: Unki11able
You know what's cool? Sultry Last Resort. That's what's cool.
Re: Unki11able
Mhmm. Mhmm.
Re: Unki11able
It's Last Resort, but set to the backing track for Rock Your Body by JT:

And just for fun, here's Last Resort covered by animals:

Accidentally figured out where Gerald went in his "private time" away: He's been moonlighting as a crocheted narwhal designed by chat GPT.
