Deathless
Re: Deathless
Good news: I'm seriously obsessed with that radio thing. A radio station in Ulaanbatar, Mongolia was playing old Dolly Parton songs. I am especially obsessed with the radio station in Asht, Tajikistan. They played many really really good songs, which Google was unable to identify except for one by a Russian pop group. A station on the far north east tip of Japan is often playing all kinds of US soul classics from the '70s. The radio on Cabo Verde is every bit as fabulous as you might expect. I could just sit and do this for the rest of my life probably.
Re: Deathless
It's made me realize how low quality most U.S. radio is.
Re: Deathless
The Polish stations have sucked for some reason. Not a fan of the European radio stations I have encountered so far - I might not be digging into the options enough after landing on a spot. Japan is full of fascinating radio. I am going up the east side of Africa starting from S Africa and would call it a good experience.
Re: Deathless
Motherfucking 1983!
Re: Deathless
Gotta check out these radio stations. World music is a big blindspot for me, and I know how quickly I'll be taken in, but kinda want to finish my pre-Grammys project which I'd at least want to get to 1939 (Over The Rainbow vs Strange Fruit) which'll be 16 months from now.
Re: Deathless
1983 is killing it. KILLING IT!
Re: Deathless
Oof. Our first miss.
Re: Deathless
Trigger warning: flashing lights! Do not watch if you are prone to seizures!
Re: Deathless
Our second Flashdance song!
Re: Deathless
I love Annie Lenox so much.
Re: Deathless
Which always reminds me of...
Re: Deathless
It’s too bad Boy George turned out to be a creep and predator. He was so delightfully different. Also- ANOTHER BANGER!
Re: Deathless
Hrmmm. Not good.
Re: Deathless
I'm liking 1983 in general, think I'll have to do the top 25 instead of just the top 15. Anyways, here is number 13.
Re: Deathless
Holy shit. It's the banger of all bangers!
Re: Deathless
Forgot that song existed. It's nice. Not adding it to my playlist or nothing, but I liked hearing it. Surprised I knew most of the words. Thank you, Tahlvin.
Any time the solution is "banjo rifle", I'm in 100%.
Re: Deathless
Pretend dancing banana here.
Re: Deathless
1983 is cooling off.
Re: Deathless
Never one of my favorites, but not bad.

Re: Deathless
I know this album is considered a sell out by Bowie, but I still love it.
Re: Deathless
What if I only have one red shoe?

Re: Deathless
Uh. Two thoughts:
Why is Bowie wearing Mickey Mouse gloves?
That video is a weird rejection of his own song. Watch it. Is it some thinly-veiled protest against the record company?

Re: Deathless
There we go. That's my second favorite Golden Earring song.
Re: Deathless
Clearly Joe Dea, who wrote and directed Greg Kihn in that video, was heavily influenced by Cronenberg and Carpenter, but was shackled by a Greg Kihn budget.
I remember loving how freaky and weird that video was when it came out.

Re: Deathless
Bang, bang, bang on the door baby! A banger!
