[W&W] Breakfast of Champions - Round 3

Post by Eliahad »

Entering Round 3 our current point totals are:

Mike - 21 points
Tahlvin - 18 points
Kyle - 3 points
Phoebe - 3 points

In round 3 I searched "Cereal Spoon." And I was not disappointed. What I found was this listing for this "Indiana Jones Red Lighted Spoon - Kellogg's Cereal Promotion."

Image

It is listed as used, though I'm not aware if it was used for eating cereal. Nor am I aware of whether or not it was washed. I do know that it is a promotion from the 2008 cinematic classic "Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull."

The seller has some notes here:

Still lights up perfect to play with. Kids will love it. Looks like real thing even works like the real thing. Don't pass this deal up.

That's right, kids will love it. And it is in fact the real deal. As in...it works like a spoon, I presume.

There were many versions of this item listed for sale on Ebay, and when there are multiple listings, I will always go with the most expensive.

So, feel free to ask questions, and I will do my best to answer them. When you're ready, please PM me the BUY IT NOW price for: "Indiana Jones Red Lighted Spoon - Kellogg's Cereal Promotion." Don't pass this opportunity up.

Before I bid, I have one question: the figure in the bowl of the spoon... is that a 7-legged spider? An ant with a tail? A weaksauce scorpion?

I'll hang up and listen to your answer over the radio. Thanks!
Any time the solution is "banjo rifle", I'm in 100%.

It is a spider, but I only learned that from similar listings. The light for this particular spoon is red, though there is also a green light spoon out there.

Guesses are in! Tight cluster this time. And also Kyle, who decided to use the "One dollar, Bob." strategy, which I think was retired when Drew took over, but I digress.

4 to 1 - $29.73 (Tahlvin)
3 to 1 - $21.99 (Phoebe)
3 to 1 - $20.99 (Mike)
4 to 1 - $1.00 (Kyle)
6 to 1 - LOWER

So place your wagers, folks, on who you think was closest without going over on "Indiana Jones Red Lighted Spoon - Kellogg's Cereal Promotion." It works just like the real thing! You wouldn't want to pass this deal up.

Thank you, Mike! You are, however, only allowed two Wagers. So you have to choose which of the two you would like to keep!

I was feeling very proud of myself for accurately guessing the price of prepper meals, but I have no such confidence in my ability to guess the price of plastic promo spoon.

Is it wrong that when I read these posts I sort of hear Eli as Bob Barker?

I feel like I'm going too high and I'm going to go with all in on the $1 guess.

I like this game but I feel like we don't need 24 hours to second guess our decisions, or perhaps let me put this differently, we don't deserve 24 hours.

It is tomorrow! And here are the wagers for "Indiana Jones Red Lighted Spoon - Kellogg's Cereal Promotion."

Kyle - 5 on $1
Phoebe - 5 on $1
Tahlvin - All in (20) on $29.73
Mike - 7 on $1 and 4 on $29.73

And the answer, for a blinking spoon. Works like the real thing. Can't tell it apart is!

$1,199.00

Tahlvin scores 80 points!
Mike scores 16 points, but loses 5!
Phoebe and Kyle both lose 3!

If it had not been this particular listing, Mike, Kyle and Phoebe would have scored big. This item usually ran for between 4 and 16 dollars. Except for this one listing, where the seller was asking for bank. Humans are weird.

Our scores at the end of round 3 are:

Tahlvin - 98 points
Mike - 32 points
Kyle - 0 points
Phoebe - 0 points

Round 4 coming up later today!

I should have known, what with this being the rare seven legged spider version.

Yes! All of the prices were low enough, I was sure there was one listing where the seller was just asking for an unreasonable amount, so I took the chance. I didn't think it would be THAT unreasonable. But I figured there had to be a reason Eli mentioned that if there were multiple listings, he would pick the most expensive.
