I struggled with the ranking for this tree because so many people complain about it and the complaints got into my head a little. However, behold its magnificence! It's an amazing, unforgettable tree! Kids are drawn to them - you want to grab on and swing from the branches that seem to be reaching down like hands and arms. They are especially good when planted near water, where they thrive, like this one pictured below. Sometimes if you are out canoeing you will see a place where such a tree is reaching down into the water and it's really cool. The color of the leaf is also a little silvery and the sound they make in the wind is so soft and whispery. A wonderful tree that enriches the world:

Trees, ranked. 29. Beech
This is an entire genus of trees. Complaints include that the branching structure and thus shade is very dense, and it produces a type of nut, but it's an interesting triangularish/conic shape in this unusual fuzzy blossom. The tree is generally just round and sturdy and lovely, however, with attractive leaves.

Re: The 12 Hour Deathless Thread
Speaking of Hamnet just watched Hamlet for the first time. Goodness, that's full of famous lines. I wonder if there's a pieces of of the culture puzzle out there that match it for me going 'oh that's where that's from!' I get so little of this anymore, like I get jealous of people who see Citizen Kane, 2001, or Casablanca for the first time. What am I missing? Like I haven't seen Breaking Bad, but has references to it permeated the culture like those, or like Hamlet?
What's the referenced in culture top 100, and what am I missing from it? Moby Dick, probably.
Also, I watched Hamlet with subtitles on, does that count as reading the play?
Kyle, I said Moby Dick.
