So, pennies. We all know Mike hates them. I agree but with less passion.

For a while during the pandemic, stores around here stopped doing all change. They'd round up to the nearest dollar if you used cash. Hardly anyone blinked. Maybe we should get rid of pennies and nickels, rounding to the nearest tenth.

My currency revamp would be...

Coins: 10¢, 20¢, 50¢, 1$, 2$
Bills: 5$, 10$, 20$, 50$, 100$

Done.

Getting rid of quarters is what kills the plan. Americans will resist that more than anything. They love quarters. But once you're committed to rounding to tenths, they have to go.

When I saw the top part of your post I shuddered in horror because I thought maybe you were reporting a news story, and then I saw the second part and I was like, yes. Yes we do love them.

Maybe it stems from that memory in childhood where school milk was a nickel or a dime or $0.15, and you might often be granted nickels and dimes for doing tasks, but to get a whole big quarter was then something much more special. And then the quarter came to represent the possibility of clean towels.

The part I forgot to emphasize - people wring their hands about getting rid of pennies but, for a while, all change stopped at most places and the world didn't implode. I think there'd be complainers with a switch and nostalgia but it would mostly not be a big deal.

I've seen all of the original series and Next Gen. All of the movies. A fair amount (but less than half) of DS9. Half a season of Voyager. And that's it. No Enterprise, no Discovery, no Picard, and definitely no animated series.

So I can't reasonably judge which is the best.

I like dreaming - no surprise this guy also wrote "my eyes adored you" as it sounds exactly the same. More surprised he wrote "Lady Marmalade" which sounds nothing like this.
