Why did JK Rowling fall SO FAR off the deep end lately? She is honestly ruining her own legacy and reputation so badly at this point - I used to know so many rabid HP fans who now detest her, far more than if they had been less rabid fans initially, and I don't know who she has left. So sad. It's like something happened to her, and then all the things people were able to suppress and overlook in favor of their enjoyment of the books became intolerable all at once - goblins and house elves and the subordination of women and closeting of gays and such - and now it's over.

Sorry, this just popped up as I was reviewing the recent movie posts in this deathless thread and HP was among them.

Now Passion of the Christ isn't a Franchise but you could say they are constantly working that IP.

Every year there's multiple films hoping to be the POTC. Some, like American Sniper, thread the needle, most do well but not gangbusters, but it created a evangelical box office lame that wasn't there before.

Yeah. Like a lot of people (I think), I think Nicki Minaj's verse is far and away the best part of the song. I was vaguely aware of the song when I heard Millie Bobbie Brown rap the Minaj verse on Jimmy Fallon. Then not long after, I heard Adele give a fuller rendition of it on Carpool Karaoke with James Corden. So that's when I put it on my main playlist, and it has stuck with me ever since.

Not a fan of Kanye, but he can write the hell out of a song, and Nicki absolutely kills this one.

Yeah, The Robe is the only one on the list that I have never heard of. What an odd concept for an epic blockbuster when viewed from the modern lens of mainstream movies.

It won three Oscars. It was the first CinemaScope film and won a special fourth Oscar for the invention of CinemaScope.

And it had a sequel: Demetrius and the Gladiators.

In the context of the Biblical Epic trend of the 50's and 60's it made more sense. Samson and Delilah, Ben-Hur, The Ten Commandments, Quo Vadis (another big one I never heard of), Solomon and Sheba (Yul Brynner and Gina Lollabrigida), King of Kings, Greatest Story Ever Told.
