The Great Plains Game Fest is this weekend. It's a small Nebraska board-gaming event. Once you pay the cover charge, all the events are free.
I'll give more detail later, but the highlight so far was Two Rooms and a Boom. I've read about it before, but never thought I'd get to play it. You start with 20-50 people (we had 34). Half are red; half are blue. There can be lots of roles, but the two that matter most are the President, who is Blue, and the Bomber, who is red. The groups are divided randomly onto two rooms. There are rules for choosing (and overthrowing) room leaders, and we do regular hostage exchanges to move people from room to room.
At the end, if the bomber's in the same room as the president, red team wins. Otherwise, blue team wins.
We played twice and it was amazing! The group dynamics were fascinating.
