Current Step: Submit new hand order, if desired. Then, everyone must declare 1 card. This card is the start of your stack. This card is face down so only you (and I) know what card it is.
Once everyone has done so, it will be Mike's turn to decide to add to their stack, or begin bidding. (Remember, you always start with your own stack first.)

You're absolutely right that the non-immediacy makes a difference. When you put 'bid 1,' your brain probably flipped it. I will say that I am enjoying watching it, but the in person game is waaaaaaaay better. Especially at the flip stage.
