DALL-E-mini

Post by Kyle »

Go to DALL-E-mini and put in text. It then produced AI-generated images trying to match your text. My first example:

My son Jacob has been obsessed with Dall-E and has been sending me examples:

I don't know how to post the results but it worked for several minutes on "ginkgo flamenco" before producing pictures of green leaves with fuller edges than normal. But it was not the dramatic combo or sense of variety you might think. It was more like it developed a single notion of what that was going to be and then gave several versions of it that were slightly different.

Oh my gosh I hope this works: it's dingo dancing flamenco and I don't like of the results but the second one it gave was the greatest thing in the world!!!!!

With ponderosa pine heron, it started off just kind of slapping the two things together but then seemed to be selecting for images that blended nicely so by the time it got to the end it was giving us something really nice.

I don't know if this is a pinnacle for AI or for humanity or for art or beauty or what exactly it is, but it's some kind of pinnacle:

The twinkies one has destroyed me because he can't figure out how to get one into his eating hole! Just trying out all the holes, while contemplating fiercely! Lol I cannot take it. The one where he's kissing a mirror image of himself instead of a recognizable Jesus is revealing in another way. Jesus will not go in there.

Interesting: I did one that included as subject, "an expert", and I got eight images of a man with glasses and one of a book. Two of the men were black, the rest white or "unknown" due to being weird and amorphous for humans. Mini AI taught itself there aren't any lady experts.

I got my invite to Dall-E 2 but it asked for my cell phone and so I hesitated. Liked the John Oliver thing but was kinda expecting more of an expose as the ethics for these sites are thorny!

This is what disturbs me about the efforts to date: you think you're doing something innocent and delightful and then you get back a set of cats that look like they barely escaped some murky river in Hades and can only avoid going back by sucking your soul down there as a replacement! I just wanted a cat sitting in a chair like a lady and this is what I got!
