Psychometrics Survey

Post by Phoebe »

This survey came out last year, at which point it wasn't as good due to lack of #s, but now lots of people have done it and the stock of rated characters is larger with more ratings, so it is more interesting. Still ridiculous, but more interesting.

https://openpsychometrics.org/

According to the personality survey, this is me:
1. (by far the top match compared to others) David Levinson, Independence Day (movie). I have never seen this movie so I have no clue why this would be the match.

From this point on, every single one of these characters is the one I most personally identify with in the show/movie, so maybe there's something to it:
2. Lester Freeman, The Wire
3. Ms. Norbury, Mean Girls
4. El Profesor, Money Heist
5. Abed, Community
6. Egon Spengler, Ghostbusters
7. Obi-Wan, Star Wars
8. Peggy Olson, Mad Men
9. Elizabeth Bennett, Pride & Prejudice
10. Dr. Strange
11. Ariadne, Inception
12. Bruce Banner
13. The Oracle from the Matrix
14. Mike Ehrmantraut, Breaking Bad
15. Ender Wiggins, Enders Game (haven't read it, sorry everyone, will someday)
My friend did this survey and ALL of the results were women so I don't know what happens with me that I get so many men.

There is a survey for couples as well, which helpfully informs me of these parallels in the world of fiction:
1. Donna and Harvey from Suits, where I am Harvey. W. T. F.
2. Wendy and Marty from Ozark, where I am Marty
3. Han and Leia
4. Juliet and Sawyer from LOST, where I am Sawyer (my spouse's favorite character happens to be Juliet, he loves her passionately)
5. Cersei and Jamie Lannister where I am Jamie (is that relief I feel?)
6. Longshot and Starbuck
7. Shannon and Sayid (where I am my favorite Lost character, Sayid)
Why am I mostly the men in these relationships?!

Other options that you might get if you try the couples quiz, hypothetically, so I want to know what y'all get if you try it because AMUSING:
Angel and Buffy
Darcy and Elizabeth
Tonks and Lupin
Clementine and Joel
Ygritte and Jon Snow
Lady Macbeth and Macbeth
Marla and the Narrator of Fight Club
Beast and Belle
Angela and Dwight (lol)

Seems Phoebe's list is full of people quietly doing the right thing, even if it means personal/career hardship as a result. Not sure what ties Mike's

Here's 84% and above

Margo Dunne (Gone Girl): 89%
Ms. Sharon Norbury (Mean Girls): 88%
David Levinson (Independence Day): 88%
Stevie Budd (Schitt's Creek): 87%
Will Graham (Hannibal): 87%
Jughead Jones (Riverdale): 86%
Jonathan Byers (Stranger Things): 86%
Jack Hodgins (Bones): 86%
Elliot Alderson (Mr. Robot): 85%
Bruce Banner (Marvel Cinematic Universe): 84%
Ray Ploshansky (Girls): 84%
Liz Lemon (30 Rock): 84%
Lane Kim (Gilmore Girls): 84%

I don't know all of these. But Stevie is my favorite character on Schitt's Creek. And 2 Tina Fey characters. And the creepy camera kid from Stranger Things.

This seems at least as accurate as many professional personality tests.

This is hilarious and seems at least equally or more accurate than other personality tests. However, I am surprised that most of you are getting high percentages of "hit" - the ONLY one I had over 80 was David Levison, and everyone else was below that in 70s or 60s.

Bill drops a yeah, "I am that hot guy from that one show" and then done; maybe this is more accurate than the full list and says something about the rest of us who doggedly kept on until we had a whole list, haha!

I am concerned that the common element is something much less noble. For instance, I shared these results in the household and my husband IMMEDIATELY responded by quoting this at me (he doesn't know who #1 on the list is either) as an example of my arrogant personality:

I totalllllly see both of these!
Marshall Eriksen (How I Met Your Mother): 83%
So unfair to you, no way!
Samwell Tarly (Game of Thrones): 82%
Samwell is awesome, I am jealous, one of the few good ones in that whole mess!
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes (LOST): 82%
Willow Rosenberg (Buffy the Vampire Slayer): 82%
Deanna Troi (Star Trek: The Next Generation): 82%
Geordi La Forge (Star Trek: The Next Generation): 81%
OMG yes, except Troi is so BORING and you are not. Test accuracy spooky overall.

OMG this makes total sense as well, and so much overlap with Mike's! Which also makes sense! Test is very 2 for 2 here (well 3 if we are counting Bill obviously).

DEAD This has Slain me. This test is frightening. I don't really know what personality Seinfeld is supposed to have, and I don't know Marty mikalski at all, but otherwise if there was some way to make an overlapping venn diagram of the others that would be exactly it, at least from what we know online. So jealous you have Tyrion Lannister; he is the pinnacle.

This is a tricky one because I don't know most of the names on the list, but they're all such a high match, and I am your cousin hahaaa!
Jean-Luc Picard (Star Trek: The Next Generation): 88%
Data (Star Trek: The Next Generation): 88%
This also has killlllllt me because either the people doing the ratings happen to classify all the logicking officer-types on Trek the same way, or we are getting some deeper insight into the show here. Or both.

I wonder if variability in slider use accounts for some differences. If I didn't have strong feelings on a scale, I left in close to the middle; there were a couple I didn't move at all. This is going to make much of the matching driven by the minority of scales with an extreme response.

Worse magic: I moved my slider with abandon, yet here we are. I think they just stealth use your camera to take a retinal scan while you answer; the answers themselves a meaningless distraction to get you to focus different directions.
