Kenda rolls off the tongue better than Croyd. But how racist is this, that this enlightened society of space travelers forces you to choose a home planet when you're traveling through space at 62Xe?! Does the choice of home planet somehow alter our biology? Because that seems stupid.

I'm a Croyd stan, but I can be convinced.
My thoughts are that this isn't likely to be an arbitrary instant death choice right here at the start. So is this a choice that sets up two completely separate stories, or is it irrelevant, and no matter which one we choose, we get the same plot and choices after just one more pick?
In case it makes a difference, I prefer the young and unpredictable homeworld rather than the stodgy ancient power that is sliding into irrelevance. Do we join the ranks of the Boomers or do we become Gen Z?

WE SEARCH FOR THE MISSING JOOLS OF CROYDBOOTI!

Let's do it, then! This is the one we finally win!

Fine, we'll be from Croyd.

It says taking our time makes our chances better. I don't trust it. That hasn't worked out for us so far.

And this is where we end up dying early. Given the warning, my inclination is to delay our departure and study at the Space Academy. But is this going to be another case like the official in Nepal that abruptly shut us down and ended our adventure prematurely? Of course, you could give us the screen shot of both pages 8 and 9 and we can see what the effect of both choices would be...

All my Dad-senses are telling me to be cautious, but Dothan is telling me there's no way this kid wants to put off adventure so he can go to a couple years of school on the spur of the moment.

You know what, if we wait, the whole supernova thing happens and there's no planet to go to. Let's get on that GD spaceplane, in space!

Someday you will find me
On a spaceship in space
In a GD supernova,
A GD supernova,
In a GD supernova out in space.

Oh, so it's better to be there when the supernova happens. I see where this is going. Fine, instant death it is. To space!

But then we'll be there to see it! We'll have achieved the speed run perfect ending! Space-ending!

Wow. We did it again. Shortest path through the adventure. We're probably f'd no matter which option we choose. I say let's go to full power and see what happens.

Y'all are doing better than my buddy in prison. He chose to go to the Space Academy and go to command school and it said, "Congratulations! You get to command your own space ship and venture into parts unknown! THE END"

It seems like this series has one particular path it wants you to follow, and if you stray from that path, "The End." It's the CYOA version of the railroading GM.

I'm with Tahlvin: recklessness got us here and recklessness will get us out. Full steam ahead!
Although hindsight tells me that going with steam engines may have been where we really went off the rails.
Well... that and the decision to use rails.

Space rails! Let's do this! To the Black Hole.... And BEYOND!!!

Sweet, we didn't die! Straight through the singularity and into another dimension exploring really cool places! Best win ever!
