I was just stupid. I pointed out to Aidan how close you were and then said I was waiting a few minutes to make it more dramatic. So I he he tries to log in to the site so that he could take away my glory, but couldn't remember if he still has an account. And then we all wound up staring out the window at the line of emergency vehicles (like, four of them because my diabetic neighbor forgot to eat before church, and the cops thought he was drunk while driving home). By the time I remembered the thread, it was a minute too late.

My neighbor is fine, by the way. So that's good.

C.R.E.A.M. (Cash Rules Everything Around Me), Wu-Tang Clan
I saw a video where they went around the office asking people to finish the phrase "Cash Rules..." Turns out that being black and being gen-x greatly increased the chances of a correct answer. By this point, I was listening to a lot of hip-hop/rap, but I was unfamiliar with the song, so I educated myself and liked it.

Added bonus--about two weeks later, this song came up as I was in our workroom at the office. Suddenly, the new guy Matt comes rushing around the corner from his office. He looks at me puzzled and listens a moment before saying, "Okay. I thought that was Wu-Tang. Nice!" I could tell he was impressed that the old man was listening to something cool. Against my better judgement, I came clean and admitted that I had just discovered the song two weeks before. But I already had a bit of cred from when he heard me play ScHoolboy Q back when he first started, so I think honesty really was the best policy in this case.

Damn. Except that it opens with a very not-PC gay slur in the first line, I like this one. This came from that old school lady rappers playlist that Spotify gave me, amd I was into it immediately. On repeated listens, it gets hard to listen to this much hate and bitterness, so I will often skip it when it turns up.

I actually fell in love with a different ScHoolboy Q song this summer, and in exploring his songs, I found I like a lot of them. This one is super-catchy, and it has stuck with me. Titties, ass, hands in the air... apparently.

And then I look at what poorpete is doing and I'm like, "It seems sneaky, but it might not be sneaky under the rules." So I come to you, prostrated and at your mercy.
