Been trying to get into this downward spiral for Boris Johnson, a lot of cabinet members are resigning, seems the conservatives want a fresh face to lead them into the next election, which they aren't polling well in. Who knows if the person they choose to succeed will be any better.

Saw a tweet about some of the cabinet members resigning, and the person called those resigning "complicit" and should've resigned months ago if they truly wanted integrity, and I was like well that's easy to say as some guy on Twitter, being angry at everyone, never happy even when things are heading in the right direction. But if you want people to do the right thing, do what you'd like them to do, you don't shit on them when they do the right thing.

Then saw the tweet was from Keir Starmer, the head of the Labour Party.

Bummer. How's this guy gonna work across the aisle? Ah well, we'll probably find out.

I find it interesting to read about this and I remain very ignorant about what's happening there. I don't understand the Boris Johnson phenomenon at all although I do feel some understanding of the Brexit sentiment, because all the transplanted British citizens I know are very pro-Brexit and see it as their way of pushing back against a union with Europe they never wanted in the first place or felt adequately consulted about. They feel like their distinctiveness was being permanently harmed by the connection to other countries and ways of doing things they find hostile and alien. I don't know that this is true or right but at least those are the feelings expressed to me.

Only thing I liked about the guy was his obvious could care less attitude about his hair.

He resigned, or half resigned, will be gone in a few months, appeasing everyone except the impatient. Sounds like he got a "writing on the wall" message from his advisors, that he had no chance of staying on and needed to leave gracefully or else it'll get ugly. People will ask why didn't Trump get similar but he kinda did around January 8th, where there was serious movement that he'd be removed from office if he didn't commit to an orderly transition on Jan 20. Wish that message got to him before Jan 6, but "thems the breaks"

Oh wow! Feel like the British do a better job at that sort of thing than we do here. I'm just waiting for all those Mitch McConnell Republicans to turn on Caesar as soon as they think he's not as powerful and stab him in the back. I don't think they want to do it before the midterm elections because they can't risk demotivating their base who is still so wild for Trump, but I think after that we'll see the long knives come out and Ron DeSantis crowned their new king. Just as long as he doesn't become our actual King which is what I'm afraid of.

It is my understanding that Horis' departure is long overdue in part to some very big scandals. The huge party at #10 Downing St at the very time when their queen had to sit grieving alone because of COVID regs which Boris was flouting that very day.

England loves the royals and Boris did not show the proper concern and respect in the eyes of many Brits.

Funny how when someone there loses the headwind of power they step down...not connected to any election day, but rather they lose the support of their party. Hard for me to follow.
