Skiing in Japan Freestyle -- Yung Gravy
This is the first of a slightly embarrassing number of Yung Gravy songs on my list. I got turned on to this group of young YouTube rappers last Christmas when my oldest son Jacob couldn't stop singing a bbno$ (pronounced "baby no money") song. There's a bunch of them, all young with clever beats and samples and rhymes, mostly rapping tongue in cheek about their sexual prowess, and Yung Gravy is their multi-platinum poster boy. I'm surprised this one made the list at all, as it is my least favorite Yung Gravy song, but I suppose that's why it's number 100.

Bad Ideas -- Tessa Violet

Tessa Violet was pandemic music for me. She released the Bad Ideas album at the end of 2019. I stumbled over one of her songs on YouTube and fell in love with it. As she released more, I keep following. I haven't listened to much Tessa this year, but this one has stuck around.

Side note, if you've ever seen Rhett and Link's The Break Up Song, she's the girlfriend in the video he's breaking up with. But she doesn't sing. I didn't know that was her until I had been listening to her music for a while.

Nobody -- Skindred

According to Spotify, I have varied and eclectic tastes, but when I find something I like, I obsess on it. That feels true, I went through several phases this year, but somewhere around springtime, I was kind of lost. Nothing really captured me for a few weeks, so when I listened to music, I just set it to a playlist of my perennial favorites--songs I come back to year after year. I stuck with it long enough that a handful of songs from it made my list this year. Nobody is one.

Skindred's Babylon was the first digital album I purchased (or one of the first two?), and I remember having it burned to CD so I could still play it in my car. Nobody is my favorite track from it, and I think I first heard it on a mix CD of rage-y songs that Kyle mailed to me. Maybe not though, but it would have fit on that CD if it wasn't there already.

Anyway... still holds up. I can headbang to this any day
