Excellent song. Viva pop women singer songwriters who write great songs to indie rock instrumentation!

I don't know what Tahlvin has planned next, but copying from him, I'm going to try a music video thing, I think.
Any time the solution is "banjo rifle", I'm in 100%.

Pete- thanks so much for posting this. Even though I heard the Bjork version, I like this one a bit more. More importantly, this has been the soundtrack in my head since you posted it. And it’s great.

Same here before this year. Kinda surprised how faithful Bjork's version is. Do like Hutton's performance about the same, but of course Bjork has the better video...

Same thing happened to me. The first time I heard it I was like, blah, Drakeish, blah. Then it would be on in the car and I found myself boppin.

I support this for the youths but I just can't get into it. My only reactions to it are uncharitable, like get some real problems girl. He owes you nothing. But then I realize everybody else is singing about butts and reducing all of human life and femininity to the butt, and I figure her music is fine the way it is. Good.

This song was recently named the biggest hit of all time. With a little luck it could've landed the yearly number one twice in a row. Impressive. 9/10

Ahh, it's catchy but is it that great? Isn't it basically Take On Me, reconstituted in a new direction? But I don't mind it, I listen to it on the radio. The other song of his that I actually liked better, Save Your Tears, was a go-to on the pop radio dial in the car until they remixed it with the loathed-one's dry, pinched, breathy voice. Now you can't leave it on because there's a 50/50 chance you will get an unwanted dose of Ariana Grande.

You know who else above has a truly loathesome voice? Doja Cat. WTF is that all about? How did this person ever get a job as a "singer" or "rapper" or whatever when her voice is like nails on a chalkboard? It makes a terrible rasping sound, like when a piece of lava rock gets stuck under my fence gate as you're trying to open it. JUST LIKE THAT SOUND. It shivers the place inside where your flesh joins to the bone. Very unpleasant.

If you have heard Butter plus all the songs on that album from Lil Nas X, you have heard what you need to hear. I tell you, I did not expect to be a lady of this Mature Age, becoming a fangirl for someone named Lil Nas X, but here we are. It's a happy thing.

OK also listen to Super Tuna. Good luck.

So Spotify has given me my personalized "Top 100 Songs of 2021". I don't know what algorithm they use, but I suspect it's mostly number of listens, with weight given to songs I consciously selected (as opposed to ones that just come up in a playlist) and weight given to songs I specifically searched for and added new this year. They appear to be ranked in order. So I'm going to start at 100 and count down. If you're actually going to listen to these, I say listen first and then read my commentary that follows. Warning: there's a LOT of profanity in my top 100, and there are many humorous songs (I wouldn't call them novelty songs, but tomato-tomato), so skip ahead if that's not for you.

Mike's Top 100 Songs of 2021 According to Spotify, #100

Far Cry 5 is one of my son Elijah's favorite games. This song is in it. So when it came up on one of my "new discovery" playlists or whatever, Eli said, "HEY! I know that one!", and so it stuck with me. Appropriate for #100.

Never seen Ben Hur.

I agree, 35 is the worst. It's the laziest composite number on the list... can barely pretend to be the pseudoprime that it is. The poor man's 33-and-a-third. Good riddance.

As much as people always list Toy Story 2 as their favorite in the franchise, I don't agree. The first Toy Story has always had my heart.

I don't get this one. I found it and added it to my current playlist, and then found out I didn't care much for it and removed it. But it must have been there long enough to make the countdown.

Toy Story 8/10 -- my ranking is probably 3,2,4,1 but liking the original more and more as I get older and appreciate the world it built
Yankee Doodle - 10/10 -- though i haven't rewatched it in decades, partly in fear that it might not hold up but the times I did watch it I adored it
Blade Runner - 8/10 -- another solid one I haven't rewatched since high school

Tough one, have only seen once two decades ago. There's a lot to like -- the cinematography, the performances (Cloris Leachman forever!), but thought the story of late teens trying to figure out their lives in a dying town is done better elsewhere, like in Breaking Away. 7/10

I saw Do the Right Thing in Japan in 1993. Good, but I was too young and unwoke to appreciate it fully. I should watch it again.

Never seen The Last Picture Show.

Pulp Fiction is a solid fave of mine. Seen it at least 7or 8 times.
