However, I don't want a strict rule on reusing GIFs because if this goes on a while, who knows what's already been used.

What about GIFs that are requoted? So if I quote someone else's post that includes a GIF, but don't include my own GIF, does that count as posting a GIF in terms of resetting the clock or winning the thread?

I thought of the same thing, but I feel like I have to post my own gif, even if there's a gif in something I'm quoting. But I don't know, maybe it's allowed if it doesn't appear on the same page as the original? But that seems complicated.

Look at the rules. Did you post a GIF? Then it counts. But if you’re posting chicken shit quotes only, or if you’re reposting GIFs, then that’s bad form and you deserve the scorn that will be rained down on you.

But you also said duplicate gifs don't count if they are on the same page. Therefore, quoted gifs without an added original gif count only if they fall on a different page than the quoted post.

That's not a rule, but more of a "good sport" way of playing. The rules are clearly defined in the first post.

I get it now. So if I edit the first post, anything I say becomes a rule. And I'm not REQUIRED to announce when I've made changes, because there's nothing in the rules that says I have to (or at least, there won't be when I'm done), but it would be very unsportsmanlike of me to do that.
I would be subject to ridicule, but it technically wouldn't prevent me from winning.
