Wang from "A Summer Place" - I can't even fathom the number of times I have heard this particular wang, or other wangs from Percy Faith AND HIS ORCHESTRA. It's surely in the thousands rather than hundreds. I think my mom played this wang daily when I was growing. This was the soundtrack of my "crawling on the carpet" years. I have weird flashes of, like, very close-up visuals of the giant wooden cabinet speakers, as I'm palpating their bobbly textured golden fabric, with this wang playing, and my visual field is like 6 inches up off the carpet.

I know it as The Theme from Otter Trying to Show His Wang to Mrs. Wormer.

Decent wang but I have no idea why it was so huge. Wondered if this was like pre-boomers going nuts for some nostalgic easy listening... but maybe not.

Like Mike suggests, it was due to Troy Donahue's wang and the attendant cultural frenzy caused by the very notion. That tacky Christmas tree, tumbling to the ground along with the moral fiber of an entire nation.

This one got surprisingly demolished in my tourney last week. I think it's a deserving classic, even though when it gets in my head the Family Matters theme sometimes does too.

Come with me, my love, to the sea, the sea of love,
love and tradition, of a grand design, some people say it's even harder to find...

Old ears would hear the Everlys as pre-Simon and Garfunkel.
New ears hear it as pre-Beatles.
This one's fine.

Ahhhh the wedding song. If you have ever seen the video for Robert Plant's version of the song, it also explains how we ended up having a wedding, insofar as the human male closest to that paradigm yet still my age was acquired in the process. It's like, this is who you should marry, and then you can play this song when you do.

Admire Les Baxter for blending a lot of sounds uncommon in Western music... with Western music.

Admire The Coasters for being awesome. "Became" a huge fan of theirs this last year, and I put it in quotes because I didn't realize how many songs I already knew and loved were by them.

Here's a special one in time for Halloween month... even though it's about a Western it has some horror film beats.

Good bubble gum pop, 2 minutes of sillyness done well. A lot of the hits by women moving backwards will have a similar feel, though with less and less Rock and Roll backing. The Doris Day era is coming...

I never got Paul Anka. The songs are fine, but very drippy and sacharine.

But look at young Paul Anka. Holy hell.

I get it now.

Their first release, "Sleep Walk", was credited as being composed by the two brothers plus Santo's wife, Ann, although Johnny later said that her name was put on by mistake.
