Okay. I guess I'm okay with this.

Checks out.
Re: The 12 Hour Deathless Thread
Someone wants to tell me this is a better song than rainbow connection? I'm ready to fight right here and now.

Nope. And before Phoebe says it: the fact that this is above Rainbow Connection is a goddamn crime.

This is a bit of a crappy video capture of it, but I always remember this song being used for a commercial that was at the beginning of VHS tape movies back in the 90s:

Re: The 12 Hour Deathless Thread
Way too high on this list, and definitely belongs lower than Rainbow Connection.
Re: The 12 Hour Deathless Thread
I agree Rainbow Connection is a top 20 movie song!
Also, I have a soft spot for Streets of Philadelphia
and Nobody Does it Better is the best Bond. Maybe should be higher!

Re: The 12 Hour Deathless Thread
Nah. I mean sure it's a song written for a movie, but no one cared until it was a TV theme song.
I give it a 27 out of 100% as good as Rainbow Connection

Re: The 12 Hour Deathless Thread
Agreed. Doesn't belong on the list.

The better kite one! Not only better kites, better buildings, better Fuji, and in a rare case... pretty good people too! I mean they are still grotesques, but one is feeling so gnarly that the kites are out. Looks like he's doing the rock and roll devil horns, as everyone should do when kites are flying because kites are cool, dudes.
But wait, another person is throwing a package. I'd like to think still the guy's hands are stretched out because he's vibing so hard on the kites that he doesn't notice a chicken (or giant saltwater taffy) being hurled their way. What an inspiration!

I put the second 'm', in the bomp-di-bomp-di-bomp.
Re: The 12 Hour Deathless Thread
Beauty in the Beast a good 85% Rainbow Connection. I always liked it but never made me teary eyed until imagining Howard Ashman writing it on his deathbed. Oh, it's happening again!

Re: The 12 Hour Deathless Thread
Eh. I guess.
Re: The 12 Hour Deathless Thread
No. I reject that. Good song, sure, but not because of the movie. Not an iconic movie moment. When the song plays anywhere else, an overwhelming majority of people DON'T think of When Harry Met Sally.
Simply no.

Any time the solution is "banjo rifle", I'm in 100%.

Re: The 12 Hour Deathless Thread
I associate its iconic opening titles.
Didn't know it was played again in the film, which shows how long I get through the film before getting bored and turning it off. Never lives up to the titles, which promises something exciting and intriguing and instead leaves us with scenes like that.
Good song! I like these Leonard Cohen-esque poetic meanderers.

Ewwww. No no no no no.
Re: The 12 Hour Deathless Thread
So the American film institute is a nasty, vile organization, yes, but I need a specific list of the people who were on the voting committee for this particular ranking and placed this particular song on it, not to mention this far above rainbow connection. I was already riled up by the other crap on this page but now I want to know who's responsible personally.
Like when I think top movie songs, for sure I'm thinking of droll little numbers that celebrate underage girls being sex trafficked by their own parents, and how much the perverts appreciate it.

I get it. Appropriate placement. Rainbow Connection should be above it.

Beautiful winter wonderland, idealistic cabin (mimics Fuji), snow on trees, using very few colors and using them well. Maybe doesn't peak my intellectual curiosity, but I just love looking at this one. One of the few where the people in the print are enjoying the scenery just like us.
