I admit, thanks to appearances of Doo-Wop and Girl Group songs like this one in Italian-American-centered films by Scorsese or white-centered films like "American Graffiti" and "Peggy Sue Got Married", I got it in my head that a lot of these hits were by white artists. And boy was I wrong. I can hear it better now, but even a few years ago, pre my 50s project, less so.

How interesting though, that music continued to be the main area where white america would let black influences in. Don't live next to me but please please be the soundtrack to my nostalgic youth.

And to be completely honest, I again I admit, black music and film, which I love and advocate for, is much larger in my life than black friends (few) and neighbors (none). Sigh
