Good on 1962ers rewarding a good mid-career Elvis song.

This kinda reminds me of the pre-1955 stuff I listen to. The music on the charts were pretty diverse in the 50s before rock took over, and it seems to be similar now right before the British invade.

LOL
That's Twist song #4
So I'm researching 1959 and I came across the fact Hank Ballard first recorded "The Twist" in '59 -- so this might be YEAR FOUR of the Twist craze.

Written by Chuck Barris. Nice guy, had dinner with him once. Anyways was never a fan of this song. Perplexed by its popularity then and its weekly rotation on the old oldies station.

I'm laughing so hard! I also cannot hear that song without then singing it that way.
Any time the solution is "banjo rifle", I'm in 100%.

"I saw you walking down the street" is the "it was dark and stormy night" of pop songwriting.

The Wang!
#9... in 1962. I doubt it will cover three years of charts... I don't think we've seen that happen... but not impossible!

Re: Deathless
I really didn't like this song for the longest time. I'm in general not a fan of songs about "come on, let's do this dance" songs, people forming lines at weddings, etc.
I've wanted to warm up to it because Carole King wrote it, and gave it a nth try today -- and -- it's alright! There's stuff to enjoy. And it's obv an earworm.
But I think I'm good for another year.
Although it doesn't mention The Twist, I wouldn't be surprised if it was written with the goal to be its heir.

Mentions the Twist! But also Mr Postman and Lion Sleeps Tonight. Actually a bit fun, how she sings parts of those songs in the chorus. Solid good for again a genre that I've never been a fan of.
