Heh, the first of the older era is Get Back, how appropriate.
I'm probably more likely to recognize these than the recent songs.

Rosemary and thyme. With some garlic/salt/pepper. Little lemon.

That's based on the first recipe I found on Google.

I'm not sure anyone is ever prepared to be a monkfish, I think it's more of a calling.

I can dig it!! A fun little pop ditty with a bit of bravura here and there: the speedy chorus, the great drum fills, some nice bass licks, the 5 second heavily distorted guitar solo.

Same. Can't tell if it's because the late 60s was a great time for music, if it was rock music reaching it's apex merging pop with creativity, or because this is the youth music of the boomers and we are beholden to their timeline. Listening to modern stuff and now onto late 40s I feel the boomer timeline is the biggest reason.

It is rather weird thinking about how music from 1969 for my parents is roughly equivalent to music from 1997 to me. At the end of '69, my dad would have been 27 with 3 little kids and a 4th on the way (and a 5th to come a couple years later).

Anyways, 1969 #15:

Did we already have Judy blue eyes - isn't that a 1969? How was that not number one or at least very top?

And what about this is the dawning of the age of Aquarius? It's dawned! I don't know that it was good. But isn't that 69?

I'm counting down from 25 to 1, rather than counting upward as I did for years 1970-2020. So some of the songs you want for '69 may be upcoming. Stay tuned to find out.

Ohhhhhhhh very exciting it did not realize we were going up!
This is a very disturbing song though. How much time does it take to think about these things? Are they somehow incompatible with the baby? Wouldn't thinking about flowers and rivers rather put you in mind of your baby? Whatever kind of baby it might be child or adult? Maybe you need to get the kind of baby that encourages thinking about things!

Not quite a point forward to funk of the 70s that the band was best at, wonder if they were surprised at how well it did -- def a solid 60s rock-era song mixed with soul and a 50s R&B feel too...

A+++ sly and family stone song there. Love it. A song that you want to sing along to but are completely incapable of imitating because the singing is way beyond normal mortals.

Much closer to their proto-funk!

Wikipedia says it's debatably the first slap-bass song

Do you know he invented the saying different strokes for different folks? Sly's pulling a fricken Shakespeare here.
