Love the stormy waves along the jeff and also the tiny little Jeffs on land working hard. Sure a whole lot of yellow fog in the air, can't help but think of late 60s art and thinking man did they smoke a lot of Jeff back then. Also like the spotted Jeff, calmly looking over the scene. Good Jeff!

For those of you with kids you can really get them if there is an "odor" in the room.

Just put on a serious face and say "wait, do you smell smoke?"

Gets 'em every time.

Pretty. One of the "I want to go to there" prints. Love all the triangles in it, the house, the peninsula, the trees. The blue makes it look like it's right at sunset, but my puzzle print substituted the blue for white making it look like a wintry paradise. Jeff's appearance here is distant, small, but as always, enhancing.

OH good! Was hoping you'd do this list -- a mix of the two types of lists you've been doing so far: music and movies.

This is a fun song and fun scene but I really side-eye songs that play up the music they like by putting other genres down. You don't have to bring tango into it! Just like Jane Campion going after Venus and Serena. Hey. We're proud of you, but stop stepping on others to prove your point.

Also amusing how girls went nuts for George Michael and Tom Cruise shaking their butts in the mid 80s.

FFY. I find this #17 striking and interesting but I can't say it's a favorite because I prefer a prettier one. But we shall see what the next 16 offer.

Also FFY. I don't know what this Jane Campion business is all about, but I always took it as a mark of quality of disco and tango that they were dissed in this song.

Jane Campion has some nerve and not in the good way. But I would not really expect the dunce who was responsible for The Piano to grasp the impact of patriarchy on anyone, much less Serena and Venus.

Regular subjects: water, toil, and the ever watching Fuji. Also ethnography of a time. Also circles. Sometimes I think the point is that people are too busy to look at Fuji -- I get it, I live in a tourist town with a beautiful lake and I often fail to look over and take it all in. And sometimes I think the point is Fuji is a god, ever watching, either appreciative of his minions working hard to appease it, or a deist god totally apathetic of their pain or unable to affect it.

This is so far my favorite, hands down, for all the reasons you mentioned - the wheel, a group of women and men working, water in detail, the distant mountain god observing... and PET TURTLE on a Leash!!!!!!! not to mention a deliciously edible looking piece of kale just hanging out in the corner.

But human figure details aren't his strong suit - the outlines are nice but the parts are distressing.

I should swing my arms rhythmically more often when walking

Fun a lady gets murdered half way through this song and everyone just keeps dancin!

Okay- the murder was super-weird. And what was with the woman spanking her baby (or fetish doll-baby?) to the rhythm of the song. Very weird. And why was this on the list? I understand that it was a huge miracle to pull off the filming (with only a couple scene-breaks) but the song didn't seem like anything special. I guess I don't understand the criteria of this list. I'll do a little research.
