Yes it was part of the contract. It hurts my ears and mind. Need soothing noises.

This is where I know you're just making stuff up now. There's no way this song or this artist existed in the 90s. Nothing about this rings any bells at all.

I know, some of these I just do not remember until I listen to them. And some of them only vaguely even after listening.

I share this, knowing that most of you do not enjoy absurdist humor as much as I do. But Chris Fleming is now my new favorite everything.

I have a very specific memory of walking to class. We had parked off campus and had just crossed 17th street somewhere close to the Cather dorm. I don't remember who I was talking to, but I remember saying that Mariah Carey had a really amazing voice, but it felt like that high note was in every song she did, and it wasn't good. It didn't make any song better and just felt like showing off.

30 years later, I stand by that. I imagine she stopped doing that after a while, but I wouldn't know. Not a fan.

Edited to add: That's hysterical! I've never seen Chris Fleming before but I will certainly check him out now. Thank you, Kyle.

I totally disagree. But it's a matter of taste. If you have it? Use it. And lord- she has it. Mariah is one of the only divas that I think deserves the status. Aretha. Whitney. Mariah.

I finally figured it out. 1991 and 1992 were me and Kyle and Phoebe's husband living together and jamming CDs into the stereo. Less pop music than usual was getting through by that point.

Exactly. None of this music is real. They're only saying this to trick us because they know we weren't listening to pop radio. And by they I mean Tahlvin.

If it was, say, most-listened to selections from Metallica and Led Zeppelin and Public Enemy among college guys in the 90s, then it would make sense.

Disturbing insight was reached: my children exist because I was sick on my birthday every year, didn't think birthdays were a big deal since I almost never got to celebrate mine, and as a result, failed to invite a "friend/frenemy" to a birthday party in 7th grade, causing all but a few friends to stop talking to me, permanently. These former friends, who waged vicious campaigns of hatred against me as is the norm for middle school girls, eventually all attended high school A near my home. So I did not wish to attend high school A anymore. The remainder of my (real) friends, plus a few new ones acquired, went to high school B, far from home, but also my Dad's alma mater. So I made special petition to the school board and then went to high school B, where husband C was encountered in short order. I disliked him intensely and immediately but wished to steal his Led Zeppelin shirt. The shirt is now in my closet. The Butterfly Flapped Its Wings.

1992 was right this is top 5 of the year worthy. Almost perfectly created ballad.

As for End of the Road being number one, it's a great example of The Ink Spots formula of "Top & Bottom", aka bring in the low voice to do a "Darlin..." spoken word verse, which they introduced in the 1930s.

Which was then brought into the 50s/60s with Brenda Lee, age 15, saying "hey let's do it like the Ink Spots"

Been deep diving Brenda, she's the real deal. Anyways we are due for a modern Top & Bottom hit.

I have never listened to Brenda Lee in my life so now I'm going to have to figure out what's up! I take it she was some sort of teenage phenom pop singer back in her day? I know of the Peggy Lee but not the Brenda Lee.

Such a beautiful day. Now everyone is tired and getting ready for bed time. I went to prepare my dog's bed inside his crate, where he loves to sleep, and found what looked like a dog toy that had been dragged through a bunch of pine needles. I grasped its warm, hefty, slimy substance in my hand, and upon rapid forensic analysis discovered he ate his dog toy and then ate an enormous amount of grass and pine needles and vomited the whole thing up in a large blob. A blob I was able to have the fullness of experience palpating and smelling.

Wow hip hop and R&B six out of seven songs so far. The closest to the sounds of guitar rock isn't from clapton but from En Vogue, who I hear some disco, hip hop, R&B, Doo Wop, and the infectious breakdown throws back to like The Andrews Sisters. And kinda points the way for Destiny's Child, no? And I can't not mention that funky bass. I love "Jump", but this might be my fav so far.
