My theory is that he's trying to curry favor with Trump for a pardon. The problem is that he's under indictment for more than just federal crimes- he's currently being investigated for bribery charges. He's insufferable.

Yeah. And in addition to his pardon powers, Republicans are all sure that Trump will announce his candidacy for 2024, which will make him the defacto head of the GOP for the next four years, and he has made it clear that if you are not "sufficiently loyal", then he will do everything in his power to turn the GOP base against you. They have all found ways to justify giving at least lip service to overthrowing democracy in order to protect their own power.

I hope the loyalty tests become increasingly severe and far from reality to the point that more people break away to the point that the hardcore Trumpers split from those merely totally lacking empathy and care only about lower taxes.

As a lawyer, I can tell you that this loyalty pledge is already there. I can't imagine any lawyer that's even 20% good at their job thinking that this has merit. It's a joke. It's laughable. It's so bad that I had a discussion with another lawyer today about whether we have and obligation to report Ken Paxton to the bar.

I did kick two off the cell phone plan to make room for the two youngest. Neither lives with me and one is married. That did not prevent them from acting completely betrayed when I told them.

We kicked the oldest off when he got his job after college. He’s left the job and moved back home while waiting to go to school in New Zealand, but is still on his own cell phone plan.

The physics for string players class I taught are all starting to turn in their final projects. They had to make a musical instrument out of whatever they wanted using the principles we talked about in class. The videos of them explaining and trying out their instruments are ADORABLE.
