Maybe the most earnest song on here since Loving You, or at least the first earnest one since then that I thought was great. Top tier duet!

I remember first hearing this album and U2 and realizing that I was listening to something different. This was the era of the rise in glam rock and hair band ballads, and U2 had a “authentic” feel to them that seemed really important to me as a teen. It’s somewhat ironic seeing as they would later come to represent the biggest sellout band I had once revered.

I mean, this, especially with the low-budget music video, is, in it's own way, perfect.

I heard this in the grocery store three days ago, and I couldn't agree more. I know it was originally released by Tommy James and the Shondells (of Crimson and Clover fame... MIKE), but their performance is a little flat and affectless. But Tiffany's version strikes the perfect teen angst and self-importance. The difference between the two show how the performance/performer is as important as the song.

Also- there's a few perfect pop songs in this world: I think We're Alone Now, by Tiffany; Hey-Yah, by Outkast; and Uptown Funk, by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars. I know there's more, but these three are always the ones that come to mind when I think of "perfect pop songs." Maybe Walk Like an Egyptian too.

Yes, that was definitely emo break up music for teens (or anybody, really).

To the extent that these songs continued to be played on the radio or are from huge artists, then I know them, but oddly I have no clue what a lot of this pop music from my teenage years is supposed to be. By this point I was listening to something totally different. Whereas the pop music when I'm 12, 13? Absolutely golden!

I like it. Also, Debbie wrote and produced this, so I give it some extra artistic cred points.

Sure. The fact that every hit she had was written by her is friggin amazing. She's very talented. This flavor of bubblegum never appealed to me, but her first two albums going triple platinum, double platinum, is nothing to sneeze at.
